Kyle Acevedo came to UW as an undergraduate from his hometown of Franklin Park, IL. He began as a chemistry major, and worked in Jim Maynard's demonstration lab for three years, but after a semester abroad in Australia he changed his major to zoology. Kyle maintained his job in the chemistry department, however, and got to know Prof. Shakhashiri by preparing materials for WISL's many departmental and public presentations, including the annual Christmas Lecture.
Upon graduating in 2017, Kyle joined WISL, assisting with the scientific and logistical parts of its many outreach activities. His favorite part of the job is seeing the amazed and excited reactions on the faces of the kids during public engagement activities. Kyle has been accepted into DePaul University's Sustainable Urban Development program, which he will enter in 2018.
In his spare time, Kyle enjoys traveling, and watching movies and Chicago sports with his friends.
